چکیده

Sonodynamic therapy has been in the limelight for cancer treatment due to its deep tissue penetration and clinical safety. Nevertheless, a low level of oxygen tumor microenvironment diminishes therapeutic effect sonodynamic by inducing angiogenesis. In this article, we reported combinatorial strategy combining with anti-angiogenesis, which can successfully achieve inhibition angiogenesis suppression growth. (Aggregate. 2021;2:e97)

P157: Periostin Recruits Tumor Associated Macrophages in Glioblastoma Multiform

Glioblastoma multiform (GBM) is the most common and lethal type of primary brain tumors with high rates of morbidity and mortality. Treatment options are limited and ineffective in most of the cases. Epidemiological studies have shown a link between inflammation and glioma genesis.  In addition, at the molecular level, pro-inflammatory cytokines released from activated microglia can increa...

Glioma cell VEGFR-2 confers resistance to chemotherapeutic and antiangiogenic treatments in PTEN-deficient glioblastoma.

Loss of the tumor suppressor phosphatase and tensin homolog deleted on chromosome 10 (PTEN) is a prerequisite for tumor cell-specific expression of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR)-2 in glioblastoma defining a subgroup prone to develop evasive resistance towards antiangiogenic treatments. Immunohistochemical analysis of human tumor tissues showed VEGFR-2 expression in glioma ...

Increase in tumor-associated macrophages after antiangiogenic therapy is associated with poor survival among patients with recurrent glioblastoma.

Antiangiogenic therapy is associated with increased radiographic responses in glioblastomas, but tumors invariably recur. Because tumor-associated macrophages have been shown to mediate escape from antiangiogenic therapy in preclinical models, we examined the role of macrophages in patients with recurrent glioblastoma. We compared autopsy brain specimens from 20 patients with recurrent glioblas...

Antiangiogenic therapies in glioblastoma multiforme

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common and lethal of adult gliomas. The prognosis for the great majority of patients with GBM is poor as almost all tumors recur following optimal surgical resection, radiation and standard chemotherapy, resulting in rapid disease-related death. The standard of care for recurrent GBM has not been clearly established. GBMs are highly vascularized brain t...

Defective p53 antiangiogenic signaling in glioblastoma.

Previous findings suggest an angiogenesis-regulating function of the p53 tumor suppressor protein in various malignancies. With several antiangiogenic agents entering the clinic, we assessed the value of the TP53 status in predicting angiogenesis in glioblastoma in vivo and examined underlying angiogenic-signaling pathways in vitro. We identified 26 TP53 wild-type and 9 TP53 mutated treatment-n...
